- Scientists are still learning new things about plants and animals that lived a long time ago. Sometimes we learn new things about plants and animals we already discovered. Sometimes we find new types of plants and animals.

- Here are just a few of the recent discoveries:
- In 2006, scientists found a fossil that links fish to a land animal with four legs. Its scientific name is Tiktaalik roseae.

- In 2005, scientists discovered a Tyrannosaurus Rex skeleton in Montana. The skeleton had a bone that helps link dinosaurs to birds. Scientists learned that dinosaurs laid and cared for their eggs like birds today do.

- In 2003, scientists examined skulls that were 160,000 years old. From these skulls, they learned that modern humans existed thousands of years earlier than they had thought before.
