Women in the 1950s



During WW II many women were employed. When the war ended and all the men came home, women lost their jobs to men who had been in the military. This angered many women, but not enough to create a protest of any sort.



Women married younger and had more children than their mothers from the 1920's.



Television shows like "Ozzie and Harriet" and "Leave it to Beaver" portrayed an perfect family life.



The 1950's was a time in American history where things were unknown. It was the beginning of the Cold War.
