Uranus:
(Say it in French! Uranus)
Pronounced YOOR- uh –nuhs (UR-a-nuss if you want it in txtmsg) , Uranus is the seventh planet from the sun and is about 31,700 miles in diameter. It is nearly 1,782 million miles from the sun and is the farthest planet that can be seen using a telescope. Uranus is a blueish green colored ball of gas and liquid (not water) with 21 moons and a faint ring (much like Jupiter). A day is 17 Earth hours long and a year is 84 Earth years.
More Facts About Uranus:

Size: 31,700 mi. diameter
Distance from Sun: 1,782 million mi. from sun
Terrain/Surface: it doesn't have a solid surface (also like Neptune) and is slippery because of snow and ice from water volcanoes
Climate: average surface temperature is -323°, making Uranus an icy giant (like Neptune)
Atmosphere: The atmosphere has layers of clouds made up mostly of hydrogen, with some helium and methane. This methane gas absorbs the red light that is part of sunlight, but scatters the blue light into space. This scattering makes Uranus look bluish-green.
How Long is one Rotation of the Planet: 17 Earth hours
How Long is one orbit of the Sun: 84 Earth years, north pole faces sun; south pole faces outer space (this means 42 years of constant sunlight; after that 42 years of total darkness)
Satellites: 27 moons
Fun Fact: Uranus has a 98 degree tilt to its axis (no other planet is like this) and it was hit by something huge long ago so it almost lies on its side.
